Joanna Collins

Joanna was born in Dublin and spent her youth training in London. Her yoga practice stems from a dance background namely classical ballet, contemporary and modern, so her teaching is rooted in an innate and precise sense of physicality. Her study of yoga evolved through dance leading her to continue training in India where she spent the last year experiencing yoga as a way of life. Her main practice there was in the Ashtanga Vinyasa tradition, gaining a teacher training certificate in Yoga Education from Yoga Vidyha Dham Institution as well as practicing with V. Venkatesh (Atma Vikasa, Mysore) and V. Sheshadri (Mysore Mandala Shala). She completed her teacher training in Los Angeles at the renowned Yoga Works studio in Santa Monica. Her practice there adapted to more Vinyasa flow based style. In addition, she studied under Saul David Raye,Erik Schiffman and has just completed an advanced teacher training course with David swenson. Joanna is specifically drawn to the discipline of Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga because of the precise alignment and placement it demands on the body and its connection of breath with movement. She is currently apprenticed to David Curtis and will be assisting him on the Vinyasa Flow Teacher Training courses in Dublin

Ruth Walshe

Ruth Walshes’ love of yoga began in 1998.After many years practice she became a certified Iyengar Teacher having trained under Grainne Gilleece. Iyengar yoga is a traditional approach as guided by BKS Iyengar: it is a strong practice that works sequentially through the body, aligning the muscles and bones safely and correctly enabling the physiological system to function at its best. Poses are held for longer and props are often used to deepen the pose and/or assist in teaching the body the correct structure of the asana. She has realized the power of this approach through her own practice and that of others as it works through the body bringing awareness, releasing blockages, and creating freedom and space in the heart and mind. Through her own practice she has come to see the positive changes a yoga practice can bring about. It helps us to find a place of centre throughout all the pulls and pushes that is part of a busy life. She spent two months this year studying with her teachers in India Rajiv and Swati Chanchani who continue to impart such wonderful understanding and experience of the subject. She is grateful every day for their guidance. She is honoured to have assisted in the local and medical classes while there, deepening her understanding of the effects of the poses on the body and mind. Always a student she regularly attends workshops with visiting senior teachers aswell as traveling to India. She is passionate about yoga and loves to share its joy with others. She is currently training in Somatic Movement Education and is an associate teacher on the Vinyasaflow Yoga trainings.

Caroline Downey

Caroline first came to yoga after taking a class in the gym, and from her first class was completely and utterly hooked. She is influenced by various styles of Yoga and by some wonderful Irish and International teachers. She completed her teacher training in Vinyasa Flow Yoga with Dave Curtis in November 2007 in Dublin. Caroline teaches a Vinyasa Flow style class with emphasis on correct alignment for individual bodies. She believes that yoga should always be enjoyable and fun and that we do what our own body is capable of at the present moment in time.
