Thailand - Activities
Yogatraveller has chosen Koh Ngai not only for its stunning scenery but for the abundance of activities available.
Diving and Snorkelling:
In Thailand, with much of the coral formed on the breaching sea-cliffs, many of the divesites are suitable for snorkelling too. You can snorkel off the beaches, hire a longtail or join a tour. Learn to dive at a reputable Padi Dive Centre and for those already certified, explore the coral reefs and marine life of some of the best dive sites in the world. Swim with Whale Sharks, Manta Rays and giant schools of Pelagic Fish, or just slowly explore the macro details of these colourful worlds in Thailand and Africa.
Hiking:
On Koh Ngai, the whole island is yours to explore. It's a bird watchers paradise and there are coconut plantations and jungle to explore. There are organised guided walks or you can set out on your own.The high-peaked and heavily forested granite mountains to the north and east are serious hiking, camping and mountain biking
territory. Some of the forest reserves, including a couple straddling the border with Phatthalung province, reportedly still harbour wild elephants and tigers. A big attraction is the number of waterfalls - splendid motivation for hiking up any hillside. A classic is Sairung Waterfall, which is accessed via prepared trails. Many others are less accessible and more interesting for seasoned hikers.
Kayaking:
Hire a sea kayak and explore the island and its secret secluded beaches from the sea.
Boat trips:
Head off to visit the surrounding islands in this beautiful National Park. Meet locals and visit a fishing culture that hasn't changed in hundreds of years. Take a trip to the famous Emerald Cave and swim with the fish and eat the local food.
Spa:
Relax and enjoy the pampering of a thai, swedish and aromatherapy massage, a facial and other beautiful treatments from the resorts own spa.
