The studio is located in the Sports Centre behind St.Mary's Senior College, Rathmines Road Lower.

Getting to the studio: Coming from Dublin, cross over the Portobello Bridge heading into Rathmines. About 100 metres up the road on the left you will see a church with a large dome, and opposite that a large sports green. This is the school. On the right hand side is a Spar shop and there is a right turn here, Military Road. Go down this road, the entrance to the school is on the right. Go into the school grounds and go behind the main building, there's a large car park here and you'll see the sports centre in front on you.
All our teachers are highly trained, experienced and insured. The classes are for every level, the teachers are more than qualified to attend to the needs of the individual. As we operate on a drop in level, we encourage people from beginners to advanced to attend, you will not be disappointed.
Each teacher has his or her own unique style. With one class on each day, come whenever you can, and enjoy the diversity of the different styles we have to offer. You can learn a lot from trying different styles and teachers, no matter what your level, not to mention really giving your body a thorough work-out.
Bring something comfortable to wear. Something stretchy and not restricting. Classes end with a relaxation session so if you want to bring some socks along if your toes get cold then feel free!
When you arrive you can take a place on the floor on a mat. There are changing rooms but you'll need to bring your bag up to the class. Bring your own mat if you're comfortable but we have plenty for you to use. Your teacher can help you to find a place. Either before or after the class, your teacher will get you to fill out name and will collect the €15 in cash.
Water:
Drinking cold water during the yoga practice is not recommended (little sips are fine though!). Developing heat in the body allows us to move more freely and this heat helps to eliminate toxins and purify the whole system, pouring cold water onto this heat slows down the whole process. We recommend you drink water throughout the day of your practice but not within 30 minutes of your practice.
Food:
Try to avoid eating large meals before practice. It is recommended that one eats a meal about three hours before practice to give the body time to digest and eliminate that meal, so that you can practice in pure comfort.
Oonagh Carroll-Holden is qualified with the International Yoga Alliance, completing her training with Debbie Corradino and Veronica Larsen at the Elbow Room, (Dublin).
She was drawn to Ashtanga yoga for the challenges it proved to her body firstly, but the experiences she met on her journey led her to the belief she holds true to her practice today, that the foundation of progressing and making beneficial changes is through a consistent and very thoughtful practice. Oonagh emphasises the use of and the quality of ones breath within the practice and is a firm believer that we should use it as the primary guide to where we should be in our practice on any given day. The class is fashioned in the traditional Ashtanga style, building up heat within ones body through the use of movement and breath. It is advisable to bring a jumper and socks for relaxation at the end of the class, to keep the body warm.
Michelle Riordan is from Ireland and is the cofounder of Yogatraveller. She has been living and travelling abroad for the past 10 years. She was certified as a yoga teacher in India and is recognised by the Yoga Alliance. She has worked and taught yoga in Egypt, Thailand, Hong Kong, Ireland, Switzerland, Malta and Africa. Her classes are Hatha based with influences of the various styles she has practised and trained in. She uses breath as a powerful tool in her classes and believes the key to opening the body is to listen closely to it and to allow it to open itself. She brings an element of fun into the classes and her style includes a great variety of stretches. She enjoys teaching people something new and has gained tremendously with learning from all the different yoga disciplines out there. She has taught people from all over the world, in many countries and cultures and is excited to bring her style to Dublin. She will begin teaching in January 2008.
Joanna Collins was born in Dublin and spent her youth training in London.
Her yoga practice stems from a dance background namely classical ballet, contemporary and modern, so her teaching is rooted in an innate and precise sense of physicality. Her study of yoga evolved through dance leading her to continue training in India where she spent the last year experiencing yoga as a way of life. Her main practice there was in the Ashtanga Vinyasa tradition, gaining a teacher training certificate in Yoga Education from Yoga Vidyha Dham Institution as well as practicing with V. Venkatesh (Atma Vikasa, Mysore) and V. Sheshadri (Mysore Mandala Shala).
She completed her teacher training in Los Angeles at the renowned Yoga Works studio in Santa Monica. Her practice there adapted to more Vinyasa flow based style. In addition, she studied under Saul David Raye,Erik Schiffman and has just completed an advanced teacher training course with David swenson. Joanna is specifically drawn to the discipline of Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga because of the precise alignment and placement it demands on the body and its connection of breath with movement. She is currently apprenticed to David Curtis and will be assisting him on the Vinyasa Flow Teacher Training courses in Dublin.
