Easter Yoga Retreat

Easter is a time of new beginnings, a rebirth so to speak. On this special retreat we will take time out from our busy lives; stop, sit, breathe and then move into a physical yoga practice as we explore our own unique patterns and behaviours and identify what is holding us back from being our best, new self.

Yoga, and the physical practices in particular, give us a way to experience ourselves through our bodies. As we hold postures, building strength, cultivate awareness and release tension, we are given the opportunity to assess how we feel about ourselves. To explore how we truthfully see ourselves and to unearth the foundations of the deepest and most important relationship we have – the one with ourselves.

Our retreat is built upon many ingredients – warm, welcoming and comfortable surroundings and delicious, nourishing meals prepared with love. Long walks along the cliffs and the coast taking in the expanse and abundance around us. New friends, likeminded connections and real conversations. Sharing, mindfulness and empathy. To retreat from the world is to turn inwards and when we embark on this journey we need to feel help and secure. This is what we excel at our beautiful retreat centre, and while we are all on our own separate path, we do not walk it alone.

Where is the event?

We warmly welcome you to The Cliffs of Moher Retreat. A purpose designed, luxury retreat venue set against the backdrop of the Atlantic Ocean, The Cliffs of Moher and the beautiful countryside of Co.Clare, Ireland. We are located on the west coast of Ireland and Europe just about the mid-point of The Wild Atlantic Way, a 400 Kilometre stretch along the Ireland’s rugged western coastline. We provide a variety of Retreats throughout the year.

Our retreat is set in the refurbished Moher Lodge Farmhouses. There are 3 buildings comprising of 5 houses. The bedrooms are divided among the 5 houses and each house has a shared communal area that is open to all guests. There is plenty of space for everyone to find a place for themselves, allowing you to be social if you feel like it, but also to have room to relax and take time to yourself.

The Media Room

We are a dedicated retreat centre and we provide the space, food and professional warm welcome for you to really enter into retreat mode. Our retreat is warm, comfortable and relaxed and we bring our years of experience in this industry to ensure you can really let go while you are here.

Our retreat is set in the refurbished Moher Lodge Farmhouses. There are 3 buildings comprising of 5 houses. The bedrooms are divided among the 5 houses and each house has a shared communal area that is open to all guests. There is plenty of space for everyone to find a place for themselves, allowing you to be social if you feel like it, but also to have room to relax and take time to yourself.

Join us in our beautiful studio and watch the wild waters of the Atlantic Ocean from the comfort of our under-floor heated space. Set in the grounds of our retreat and facing directly out to Liscannor Bay, a massive wall of glass spanning 10m x 3m takes in the most stunning sea-view.

Our architecturally designed building has been lovingly created with your retreat in mind. All the details have been carefully planned and thought out. You will find the most modern heating system, bringing the room to the temperature of your choice. There is a state of the art sound system operated by Bluetooth and our lighting scheme allows for different moods and options.

OUR OWN RESIDENTIAL RETREATS
We run our own courses with our resident teacher, Michelle Riordan who has been teaching yoga full time for over 10 years. We also have a fantastic team of experienced teachers and therapists who also run residential retreats.

RUN YOUR OWN RETREAT
We also hire our retreat centre to teachers and groups wishing to run their own programs and we provide the space, accommodation, meals and hosting. For details on this please email info@cliffsofmoherretreat.com for our information pack.


WHAT WE DON’T OFFER

-We are not a hotel and while we have parallel standards of comfort we do not offer the same services.
-The rooms are not turned down nor are they serviced during your stay.
-We are not open for people to drop in, retreats are private and we respect the space people need to really relax and unwind. If you wish to come and see us or to view the retreat please get in touch and we can arrange a suitable time when there are no retreats on for you to visit.
-We are a dry facility and while we are happy to recommend some great local pubs to sample the local Guinness and traditional music scene, we do not have alcohol on site.
-We do not offer laundry facilities.
-Guests are welcome to help themselves to tea and coffee all weekend and are expected to return their cups to the dishwasher etc.
We provide hand soaps, towels and hair driers in each room.
-We do not provide shower gel, shampoo and conditioner or beach towels. If you wish to swim in the sea please bring a beach towel with you.

Tell me about the
accommodation?

We have 14 bedrooms and can sleep up to 30 guests. All our rooms are en-suite apart from 2 rooms which share a large bathroom which also has a bath. The rooms are all tastefully decorated with comfortable mattresses and Egyptian cotton linen.

All the rooms have views, whether that is sea-views or countryside views. The rooms are all twin-share with 4 rooms that can convert into a Queen size bed for couples. Some of these rooms are available to use for single use.

Please note priority of sea-view rooms is given to twin share use. There is storage, shelf and hanging and each room comes equipped with towels and a hair-drier.

Who is my teacher?

Dearbhla Glynn

I have been practising yoga for over fifteen years, after years of gymnastics, capoeira, and running I had managed to accumulate injuries and I found yoga was the best way to physically maintain my muscles, joints and overall body. The more I practised I noticed how grounded, connected and calm I was after yoga. In time the physical rewards became secondary to the mental and spiritual impact of my practice. Yoga became an integral part of my life.

What will my day look like?

We will start the morning in stillness, sitting in the warmth of the studio as the day begins. After a warming breakfast we will head out for a walk to fill us with energy. After that we will spend 2 hours in our stunning studio, working through the body to release tensions and tightness’s and finding our natural rhythm.

Free time after lunch to explore and discover the area or sit with a book and doze off. We meet again for evening yoga where we allow the cycle of the day to complete with a slow, restorative class to relax and ground us again. This retreat is for anyone who wants to use this peaceful of year to tune in and find inspiration.

Free Time – Spend your time taking a walk, swimming in the sea, reading a book or enjoy some of the amazing tourism the area has to offer.

Throughout your stay we will offer 3 guided walks to take in some of the breathtaking sites at our doorstep. Times and days will be confirmed on arrival, weather permitting. Additionally, our beautiful glass fronted sauna will be available at all times during your stay. We will fire up our wood burning hot tub once as well, weather permitting.

13:30     Lunch – lots of yummy healthy food!

Free time – Options to take a trip to Lahinch to the beach, go surfing, take a tour of the area including the Cliffs of Moher and The Burren or stay and relax and enjoy a treatment.

17:30     2 hour yoga class

faq

What time is check in?

Check-in is at 5pm..

My flight gets in earlier than the 5pm check in, can I come earlier?

We will be preparing the retreat centre at that time and if a group checked out that day your room will be not be ready if you are arriving very early. We recommend getting the taxi to drop off your bags and then taking you into Lahinch. We are isolated and there isn’t anywhere to get lunch but Lahinch has cafes, restaurants, shops and a lovely beach. Your taxi can arrange to collect you again later.

My flight arrives a day in advance - can I stay an extra night?

We don’t have guests staying earlier as the centre is not open before a retreat. There may also be a retreat
still in progress. We recommend staying in Lahinch which is only a few kms away and has walking access to
hotels, hostels, B&B’s, shops, pubs, cafes and restaurants and a lovely long beach.

My flight leaves the next day - can I stay an extra night?

We don’t have guests staying an extra night as the centre is closed after a retreat. There may also be a retreat starting.
We recommend staying in Lahinch which is only a few kms away and has access to
hotels, hostels, B&B’s, shops, pubs, cafes and restaurants and a lovely long beach within walking distance.

I arrive into Shannon Airport, what's the best way to get to you?

Will I be able to share a transfer from Shannon airport?

It will depend if there are others on the same flight. We will not know this at the time of booking.
If you are in a position where you have to pay for a taxi on your own on the way in, it is usually easier to
get back to the airport as you can look into public transport or get a lift with another guest driving past the airport.

Is there Wifi?

We have wifi for guests in our media room, a comfortable room to read, relax and get online if you want to.

Can I get a single room?

We have a limited number of single rooms which are booked on a first-come-first-served basis. Prices are €35 extra per night. Please contact to arrange.

I'm coming on my own can you pair me to share

We can pair you with someone of the same gender.

What do I need to bring?

We provide towels, hand soap, hair-driers and yoga equipment, please bring anything else you require.

I'm new to yoga, will the retreat suit me?

We get beginners all the time, and everyone is welcome.

I have specific dietary requirements, can you accommodate me?

Yes we can, please let us know before the retreat starts.

How do I arrange treatments and therapies?

We can arrange that when you are here.

I'd like to book a surf lesson/activity, should I do this before I arrive?

It is a good idea to make sure you can get a place. The details for recommended tour operators are on in the section The Area.

What kind of yoga do you teach?

All our teachers are extremely experienced but each teach their own style. Please see the individual retreats and teacher’s biographies for more specific details.

To secure a place on one of our retreats we require a deposit of 30% to secure the place. We cannot hold places until the deposit is paid. The remaining payment can be paid with a card upon arrival at the retreat.
