We have just returned from running our annual skiing and yoga retreat in the Austrian Alps staying at our luxury spa lodge. The conditions were so good we decided to run another retreat this Spring.

Energize – Let the thrill of the sun kissed slopes pump your adrenaline, work your cardio vascular and engage the largest muscles in your body.

Aid your body through yoga – Avoid stiffness and give your muscles the best possible start and end to your slope filled days. Your body needs essential care and attention to ensure you are well able for the next days high activity.

Relax – Enjoy the natural mountain fed pool and sun deck.  Sauna, infra red sauna & steam room.

Where is the event?

Retreat

Our mountain-top haven is nestled in the Austrian Alps located a scenic 50 minute drive from beautiful Salzburg. A magnificent city with meandering cobbled lanes, rich history and relaxed friendly atmosphere. Whether you’re a seasoned skier looking to be challenged on the slopes, a beginner eager to learn the ropes or simply looking for some time in the mountains – we’ve created the perfect Austrian experience for you. Perfect for getting out there and feeling alive in the fresh mountain air. And perfect for the you who’s looking to be revived, refreshed and restored through yoga, against the stunning backdrop of the Austrian Alps. It just doesn’t get better than this.

WHY HERE?

Snowboard and Yoga

Because this retreat is at the heart of some of the most incredible natural beauty the world has to offer – from the mighty mountains as old as time and the rich flora and fauna, to the quaint Austrian village way of life that moves to the rhythm of nature.  It’s about reconnecting, recharging and reenergising your love for life.

Because there’s simply a whole winter wonderland here – from skiing to snowboarding, tobogganing and snowshoe (hiking in special tennis racquet-style snow shoes). Here everyone will find their happy place – whether it’s out on the breath-taking slopes or finding a cosy dining spot in the picturesque village below. Come summer, the landscape transforms to reveal a myriad of beautiful mountain trails – as the ski lifts take you up high amongst the forests, wild flowers, rolling pastures and crystal lakes, to picnic, rest and just be.

Yoga & Skiing

A relaxing, fun, invigorating and adventurous week in the beautiful Alps

Because it’s hard to beat the culture, history and artistic splendour of Austria – found in every mountain top castle and ancient village and complemented by the creative vibrancy of the city of Salzburg, home of Mozart.

Because it’s our hidden gem.  Hochkonig is a little-known but highly-regarded ski region. There are plenty of ski rental, ski depots and ski school businesses, and with a bus taking you from door to door, the ski experience is made easy.

And because here is your chance to give back in the most wonderful of ways. The chalet home where you’ll stay is a Social Enterprise Business, which means that all profits made go to charity, such as The Coins Foundation, which uses profits to benefit housing projects in Africa.

Yoga Skiing

The Foundation also represents The Cookie Bar, a social enterprise café in Hindhead, Surrey, that offers valuable work experience to students, including those with disabilities. This means you’re doing yourself good – and you’re paying it forward for so many others too.

What can I look forward to?

Soul-touching scenery. Mouthwateringly delicious home-cooked meals, challenging physical adventures, time to explore and feel centred. Expert, thoughtfully-planned yoga classes. Hikes to trek. Shops to explore. Fascinating people to meet. Places to discover. Fresh mountain air. Fun après ski. Calm. Peace. Excitement and exhilaration. And that’s just the beginning.

Who is my teacher?

Michelle Moroney

Your yoga instructor is Yoga Traveller founder and owner, Michelle Moroney. Michelle is a snowboarder and accomplished yoga and skiing teacher who has taught in the mountains every year for the past eleven years. Michelle’s classes are fun and inspiring to help prepare body and mind for a day on the mountain.

Michelle has designed her own Yoga for Skiing/Snowboarding program to help you deepen your yoga skills, get the most from your mountain time, and learn a lot about yourself along the way.

What will my day look like?

Kick-start the great day with a morning yoga class. Through heat-building poses you will warm up the joints, open the spine, prepare the muscles and centre the mind. These sessions will help you prepare for the physical challenges ahead – waking you up and priming you for mountain fun. Follow this with a hearty healthy breakfast then it’s time to hit the mountains – be it skiing, snowboarding, sledging, hiking, walking, visiting villages or just hanging out in the wellness area. You’ll end the day with an evening yoga session – designed to help you unwind, relax and replenish your energised body. Through long, slow and deep poses you will release the muscles and the mind, before sitting down for our delicious three-course evening meal.

You’ll have lots of free time in between planned sessions – so you can take advantage of the lively après ski scene down in the village, indulge at the wellness centre – or simply enjoy a cosy, early night with a great book.
